The pond.

The pond
only wanted to make you happy.

“I didn’t mean to lie,”
it said with those enticing ripples
that drew ever closer,
begging to be near your heart.

But it didn’t mean much.
Those wishes were only remembered
when you ran out of coins.

Red Flags

Those red flags dusted your eyelashes
Shutters flashing open to reveal your fears
I was fine at first
“We all have our insecurities”
I said
And brushed them away with my fingertips
Redefining the very core of me
With their licks and edges
They fought against freedom
Leaving me alone
In the place they had once welcomed me to so proudly
Those brilliant red flags.

the project.

I built you so beautiful
so beautiful
in my mind
to protect me from
your ugliness
Within that wax case
I
bathed you in
A baptism
so we could be
nuclear
or at least have no one laugh at our flaws
I fell in love with the potential
all that I could see us being
hope for
mould you into
with some changes in myself
that you demanded
Entitled.

Where Am I?
