The Elevator

You smile at me now,
I think.
Can you smell the change on me,
Or is it because I actually spoke?

Waiting for the elevator
to the same place
at the same time –
What else could I do?

Do we start here,
after the trip,
or do I apologise for a past
that is all but forgotten?

The Kitchen

It’s been a while
since we’ve lived in this scene.

We claimed the two poles –
You keep out at night,
and I during the day.

We try not to touch,
but it gets awkward.

So you try for small talk,
and I feel like you know more about me
than I know of you.

I can’t reciprocate today.
I can’t think of questions.

Where Am I?
