A dragon keeps a cat hostage.
Kitty sharpens her claws on his back.

I draw boundaries in salt
Lest he develop a taste for horse meat.

Three months now
We brood in comfy isolation,
Fearing attack from the other side.

It would be nice if
you acknowledged that this is
a real thing for me.

The Tempest

Filling the house with the sound of your voice,
I am the core.
The center of the tempest, I am stuck
in the emptiness that’s come now you’re gone.
I don’t exist without it.

That radio broadcast
put in your own words all we loved about you
and gave me the answers I never thought to ask for,
but still it’s not enough.

It still feels like I’ll see you Saturday,
but lost inside the tempest,
I’m standing on my own.

This shawl of rain, my armour.

This shawl of rain, my armour.
Fluid against all threats it alters seamlessly,
Creating new barriers where those have fallen.

Forever chill, but never cold.
It stays wrapped around me tight,
Never warmed by the red of blood.

The rain falls sharp but soft.
Like sheets of silk against my skin,
In its steady flow I find peace.

Where Am I?
