Sunglasses (in memoriam)

July 3, 2013 § Leave a comment

Your sunglasses
they shone like stars to me
Showed me a world that
I never dreamed could be
All the possibility
Hope left behind in your legacy
I see
the dreams you had for us
to rise above the dust
the shackles and chains you turned to rust with a
smile
You
you made this life worth livin’
dreams worth dreamin’
hope somethin’ worth breathin’
and I know
if you could see us now
you’d tell us to go hard
so that the dreams don’t die
with you
And we
We’ll keep fighting that fight
determined to rise and mobilize
Because that
is how we do.

Where Am I?
