Checklist for Innocence

Crowned in bows
those cascading curls
and flirty skirts
delicate flowers
and a hint of shimmer
with a star around the neck
to reclaim happiness
from a time I am too strong for now.

The Tempest

July 8, 2013 § Leave a comment

Filling the house with the sound of your voice,
I am the core.
The center of the tempest, I am stuck
in the emptiness that’s come now you’re gone.
I don’t exist without it.

That radio broadcast
put in your own words all we loved about you
and gave me the answers I never thought to ask for,
but still it’s not enough.

It still feels like I’ll see you Saturday,
but lost inside the tempest,
I’m standing on my own.

Where Am I?
