Flinging crystals from the chandelier
We drip pearls into each other’s mouths
Targeting the essence of the heart
We say “fuck it all,” but we want the crown
Darkening and sharpening our thin outer lashes,
Curling our hair,
Raising our chests,
No end game defined
For what
Can compel bright hearts to ravage
But the fear that the are not the fairest in the land?

You left
And forgot to take the memories
of the little things that soothe my anxieties with you.

Will you return
With the snow you hate so much
The same as before, leaving
nothing behind in your mother’s web?

Let us not count
The days by the hours, but
By the blinks of mind.

Upstairs
A dragon keeps a cat hostage.
Kitty sharpens her claws on his back.

Below
I draw boundaries in salt
Lest he develop a taste for horse meat.

Three months now
We brood in comfy isolation,
Fearing attack from the other side.

Too Much of a Goddess (20 March 2014)

I arrived
caressed in fur and silk,
everything you say you want
on a fine silver platter.

Too much of a goddess,
every dream of yours manifest
that you couldn’t reach out for
when the time finally came.

Yet still you cry out,
worship at the altar of my kind
and beg for my approval
while eyeing easier prey.

Too much of a goddess,
I don’t deign to need a slave
with conflicting loyalties
and a craven feathery gait.

One of the few gifts you gave me

Was a soft mantle made of cloud.

Silver,

The colour of liars and thieves

Who never know gold when they hold it.

I had to learn to break from it

To hold gold myself.

Burned and scraped,
The cat turned its back on
Its treacherous bed.

Remember me.

I want to nibble away at your mind
Forget me never, remember me fine
Irresistible in every way
Someone with whom to spend the day
Folded into a star at night
Sailing towards infinite light
Cinnamon spice in the air so bold
A luscious teardrop warm to hold
Remember me.

Interactions and Absence,
not a thing is still.

Home again new, the
movements never change
wherever we go.
